Histroy

The boarding section was opened in October 1989, directly under the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Kwan Fong Kai Chi School. The boarding section is operated under the warden and boarding section staff, providing boarding places to students who have boarding needs at Kwan Fong Kai Chi School. The warden is responsible to the principal, and the principal belongs to the Education Section of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals.

Purpose

The boarding section department assumes the task of continuing and strengthening student learning. The staff of the boarding section department cooperates with the faculty of the school to follow up on the students' homework and training during the students' boarding period and assist them in applying the skills they have learned in their boarding section life. Therefore, the purpose of boarding services provided by the boarding section department is to provide students with day-to-day care, but also include pastoral and education elements.

Facilities

The boarding section is divided into two floors. The ground floor is equipped with an activity hall, dining room, fitness room, multi-purpose room, kitchen, laundry room, management room, office, night room, storage room, etc.; on the first floor is a comprehensive activity room and seven There are rooms with en suite bathrooms, each room can accommodate eight students.

Lodging

The boarding section can accommodate a total of 56 male and female students.

Eligibility

  1. Referred by the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government
  2. Generally between six and twenty years old, moderately mentally handicapped children
  3. Must be a student who needs accommodation services for the school
  4. Must be certified by a registered doctor to be fit to stay in the boarding section

Service Area

  1. Accommodation and meal services that feel like "home"
    The chef provides breakfast, dinner and late (lunch are arranged by the school). The menu is reviewed by the nurse and changed regularly to ensure that the students get balanced nutrition. School uniforms, personal clothes and beddings are cleaned regularly. Each room arranges house activities according to the needs of boarding students in the room
  2. Learning
    Boarding section parents and boarders are responsible for teacher planning and implementation of boarding students’ "individual learning homework" to continue and consolidate boarding students’ learning and training; guide students on personal hygiene, meal skills, social etiquette and other life skills through daily routines
  3. Diversified recreational, social and community integration activities
    Arrange diversified recreational, cultural and entertainment community inclusive activities and interest groups for students to encourage family members of the residents to attend together
  4. Nursing
    Nurses regularly follow up on students’ health and care
  5. Counselling and Support
    School social workers and boarding section staff provide counseling and support services for students and their families in need
  6. Parents and family members Communications
    Boarding staff regularly contact parents to report on the situation of the boarding students; three parent day activities are held every year to discuss and explain the living and growth of boarding students

Service Charge

The monthly fee is set in accordance with the regulations of the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
